Church is supposed to go beyond one hour a week, but how do you do that as a family? MecKidz’s mission is to partner with parents to know, love and serve Jesus. Check out how MecKidz partners with you in-person, online, and throughout the week!
The mission of MecKidz is to partner with parents to lead kids to know love and serve Jesus. The primary way we do that is through a weekly service. This week we launched a fourth in-person service time on Sundays at 12:30 p.m. Here is how we suggest you can maximize that time with your family.
When you attend in person:
- Arrive early! Church is so much more than a program; it’s a community, and community is best built in unstructured time. The earlier you arrive, the more time you will have to engage with other families. MecKidz opens 15 minutes prior to the service starting. That time is designed for kids to hang out with other kids, build community, and be mentored by the adult leaders of MecKidz.
- Keep the Conversation Going! As you leave the service, don’t fall into the trap of asking “did you have fun?” Or “What did you learn about today?” Instead, foster discussion with questions like…
- What Bible story did they talk about today? Can you retell it?
- Follow up questions if they need prompting would be, “Who was the main person they talked about? What did they do?” etc.
- What are one or two things that they told you about the Bible today?
- Can you tell me three things that happened in MecKidz today?
- What was your favorite thing from today, and what was your least favorite thing from today?
- Watch the Online Service for Kids! MecKidz releases an online version of the service every week for both preschool and elementary aged kids, complete with a Bible story and fun games. These 10-minute videos reinforce what your child learned in person, and lets you see exactly what your child is learning in MecKidz from the comfort of your living room. You can find MecKidz Online on YouTube, Meck’s website, or on the Meck TV app.
- Take it home with you! Every week, Meck posts a Home Guide, which you can find on the elementary online page of the Meck website. This guide gives an overview of everything your child learned in MecKidz, plus four simple activities they can do to continue the lesson.
- Do the Weekly Devotion: Every Wednesday, MecKidz posts a video devotion for kids that encourages them to Read, Journal, Pray and Draw things that reinforce the lesson they heard on Sunday.
- Attend online! When you don’t attend in-person, instead of taking the week off, watch the online service for kids! The Online Service is posted every Sunday morning on the Meck mobile and tv apps, website, and MecKidz YouTube channel.
When you attend online:
- Watch the MecKidz video as a family! This will allow you to see what they learn, and give you ideas on how you can reinforce the lesson in your home.
- Worship as a family! Listen to a song from our CREW playlist and spend time singing and dancing as a family.
- Pray together: After watching the MecKidz online service, pray together as a family about what you just experienced.
- Do the weekly devotion: Just like you would if you attended an in person service, keep the momentum and do the weekly devotional in the middle of your week.
MecKidz offers so much more than just a weekly service, but maximizing that in your family is the first step towards partnering with us to lead your child to know love and serve Jesus.
