Pray Without Ceasing

When we encounter prayer in the Bible or in the lives of great Christian men and women throughout history, we find it associated with power, deep intimacy, healing and peace. Yet for many of us, prayer feels like nothing more than an unspoken wish list, an awkward silence, random ramblings, or an eventual detour into your to-do list or weekend plans. We can often feel like we're doing it wrong, or worse, that no one is listening. In this class, we'll explore the multi-faceted nature of prayer; namely, how it allows us to abide in God, listen to Him, speak with Him, and be changed by Him. We will unpack some of the mysteries of prayer while practicing it for ourselves and with others. And we'll learn what the command to "pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:16) looks like in our current cultural moment. We hope this class serves as the beginning or the continuation of your own rich and personal prayer life with God.

NOTE: This class is a part of a larger study called "A Well-Ordered Life" - a multi-year study, comprising eight separate series, in which we look at what it might mean for us to communally model our lives after Jesus in our modern context. While this is part of a series of classes, participants can take this as a standalone course.
