More than 60% of Argentina's children and adolescents live below the poverty line. Every day, homeless children walk barefoot through subway cars, begging for money or something to eat.

And to make matters worse, the Argentine government has cut funding for orphanages in recent years, making it nearly impossible for them to keep their doors open. 

Puerta del Cielo (Heaven's Gate) is an orphanage that opened more than 30 years ago on the outskirts of Buenos Aires. Since then, hundreds of children have passed through, receiving not only a place to lay their heads at night, but also education, food in their stomachs, and the love of the Lord. The staff at Puerta del Cielo take in children who come from the most tragic of circumstances - all of whom have suffered from physical and sexual abuse. They also reunite and keep siblings together, which is practically unheard of. 

Meck has loved the unique opportunity to partner with this orphanage to support their mission of providing care and the love of Jesus to the precious children who live there. Meck has truly become an angel in their corner, as funds from our annual "Giving to Christ at Christmas" campaign are literally keeping their doors open. Every couple of years we have the opportunity to send a team from Meck there to visit with the children, organize activities for them, encourage and support the staff, and bring much-needed donations. 

WHO CAN ATTEND: Minimum age for attending this trip is 10 (ages 10-17 must be accompanied by an adult)

IMMUNIZATIONS: Up-to-date Tetanus required. Hepatitis A/B and Typhoid are recommended.

TRIP DATES: June 15 - 22, 2024

PAYMENT SCHEDULE: 
$100 - due by January 31 (Managed Missions opens on January 1, 2024 to make payments)
$1500 due by March 31 (final ticketing of the flight)
$1100 due by May 31 (funds for meals and lodging)
