God has given us the Bible as the greatest instruction manual of all time, entirely inspired by God and filled with truth and life. And yet the truth of the Bible is not for us to individually decide; rather, we’re to discover it by learning to read the Bible on its terms instead of our own. In this 3-week, online class, we’ll take a shallow dive into biblical hermeneutics (the science of biblical interpretation) so that we can learn how to properly read and interpret the Bible. We'll discuss the steps to effective Bible study, the basic principles of interpretation, suggested resources, and practical study tips.
Team Life is designed to teach you about Meck and what makes up our DNA—our mission, vision and values. It also serves as our membership class where you can learn more about joining our mission to help spiritual explorers become fully devoted followers of Christ.Meck is made up of people from many different spiritual backgrounds; some with extensive church backgrounds, others who are brand new to church and many in between. Knowing this, we designed the class to clearly explain the history and heart of Meck, and what it means to be a member. There are both online and in person options for this class.
Francis Schaeffer once wrote a book entitled “He Is There and He Is Not Silent”. That description of God could not be more accurate during a very dark time in His people’s history. After God gave the Israelites what they requested – a king – they soon found out that a human king could never solve the real problems they faced. They didn’t need a king; they needed a Savior. Amid their moral decay and hopelessness, God did not sit by passively. Instead, He sent prophet after prophet to remind the people of His steadfast love for them and that it was never too late for them to turn back to Him. In this 6-week series, we’ll dive into the prophetic books of the Bible to examine how God responds to our sin and how we can develop eyes to see Him even when all hope seems lost. This class is offered at two separate times: Online - Mondays at 7 p.m. beginning October 16 (no class 11/6, 11/13 or 11/20) In Person - Thursdays at 10 a.m. beginning October 19 (no class 11/9, 11/16 or 11/23) *Participants can also opt to receive the class recordings rather than attend the live classes.NOTE: The Big Picture Bible Study is an in-depth, chronological study of the whole Bible. In its entirety, it comprises 10 separate studies spread out over a two-year time frame. "The Prophets" is the fifth study in the series, but new students will get caught up in the first week.
